Nigerian businessman and industrialist, Aliko Dangote joined other dignitaries at Redeemer’s varsity African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID) ceremony honoring Herbert Wigwe.
Dangote
was present at Redeemer’s University for a significant event held by ACEGID.
The event took place at the university’s new permanent site and included the dedication of a garden in honor of Herbert Wigwe, Dangote’s close friend.
The
gathering was marked by the attendance of several notable individuals,
reflecting the strong connections between major business figures and academic
institutions in Nigeria.
The
Vice-Chancellor of Redeemer’s University, Shadrach Olufemi Akindele who was
attending the Redemption Camp event, made a special effort to join this
ceremony, emphasising the importance of the event to the university community.
ACEGID,
established at Redeemer’s University, is a leading center for genomics
research, particularly in the fight against infectious diseases. The center has
been pivotal in advancing Africa’s capacity in genomics and has partnered with
global leaders like Illumina to enhance training and research capabilities
across the continent.
